Words can hardly describe the phenomenal feeling of being at The Experience concert that took place over the weekend. Thousands of people gathered at the Tafawa Balewa Square in Lagos and those who couldn’t make it tuned in at home, viewing centres or online.
Again, participants put aside their religious, political and ethnic affiliations and came together to worship God in an electrifying atmosphere. Indeed, in Christ, we are all one. One can boldly say The Experience is the Nigerian gospel event that unifies Christians in the country.
All the performances were great. Tim Godfrey’s entrance was second to none; Chioma Jesus and Tope Alabi’s prophetic praise sessions were so powerful one could literally feel the move of the Spirit; the rendition of the National Anthem and the popular song ‘You Raise Me UP’ took the audience to the heavens and back. Don Moen, Micah Stampley, The Midnight Crew, Nathaniel Bassey, Onos Ariyo, Eben and oh! we cannot but mention the artistic prowess of German violinist Manuel Druminski… in fact, all the artistes were on top of their game and brought it on.
The host, Pastor Paul Adefarasin of House on the Rock church was awarded dual citizenship by the states of South Carolina and Georgia. He was joined in the programme by other popular clergy like Matthew Ashimolowo, Sam Adeyemi, Bishop Mike Okonkwo and many other crème de la crème of the society.
The event, which is in the 12th edition, keeps getting better year after year. One wonders how the 13th edition will feel like, but that’s until next year. Until then, we shall keep basking in the euphoria of God’s glory experienced this weekend.
